Moosehaven held a ceremonial groundbreaking on March 5 to signify the commencement of the AAA Project, Always Active At Moosehaven, a $10M expansion of the Moosehaven campus including a new Sports and Recreation Center and Riverfront Pavilion.
Moose International CEO Scott Hart, the Moosehaven Board of Directors, Moose Charities Board of Directors, Town of Orange Park dignitaries, and Moosehaven residents gathered to witness the turn of the first spades of soil. Hart thanked Moose members nationwide whose fundraising efforts and generosity have already raised more than $7M toward the project.
Artists’ renderings of the new facility depict the Recreation Center, which will be located where the New York Sports Complex is today and will extend to the east to make space for the approximately 26,000 square foot building. The new center will feature state-of-the-art amenities including an indoor heated swimming pool, showers, gym/fitness center, multi-purpose room for group dance and exercise classes, bowling alley, electronic darts, billiards, indoor shuffleboard, golf simulator, poker room, game room with retro pinball machines, a centrally located beverage bar, and an outdoor patio with seating area, flower gardens, and a fire pit.
The AAA Pavilion will located on the riverside of the campus and will host a variety of outdoor activities.
Moosehaven Executive Director Helen Taylor said the project will soon move “from the paper to the ground.” Construction is currently in the permitting stages and is expected to begin within the next several months.
