Moosehaven was blessed to welcome children from Mooseheart Child City and School for a weeklong visit with our residents.
Girls from Oregon Home were greeted with a pizza and ice cream and kicked off the visit with a tour of campus. They enjoyed many of the amenities at Moosehaven, including a pool party in our indoor swimming pool, painting ceramics with our activities director, bowling in the New Year Sports Complex, and a movie night in our theatre.
They were treated to outings sponsored by local Moose lodges including a trip to Camp Blanding Museum and a day at Kingsley Lake thanks to the members of Lakeshore Lodge 2020, a visit to Mandarin Lodge 42 for a swim day in their beautiful pool, and a wonderful beach day courtesy of the Jacksonville Beach Lodge 1558.
The Mooseheart Girls also enjoyed field trips to Get Air Trampoline Park where they spent the day bouncing, swinging, and jumping into giant foam pits and to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens where they interacted with animals, touched stingrays, and cooled off in the splash pad.
This has been a special time for both the Mooseheart Girls and the Moosehaven residents. We love bringing together all the people The Moose cares for – both young and young at heart!
Mooseheart is a residential childcare facility for children and teens in need, from infancy through high school. Dedicated in 1913 by the Moose fraternal organization, Mooseheart cares for youth whose families are unable, for a wide variety of reasons, to care for them.
